About
[Ah yes, the page where one runs the considerable risk of sounding like a bad 2010 Nathan Barley wannabe. Oh well, here goes…]
I’m a writer of words and music. So, an occasional music journalist for my good friends at Kaput Magazine, CHART - Notes to consider and EM-Guide. I’ve written on topics like generative AI (is it awful? is it coming for your job?), the male voice choir phenomenon, the Brexit feels, and why CharliXCX’s Brat really was a last summer treat.
I’ve also published a volume of darkly comedic short stories, ‘Not From Above!’ via Unbound Books. I’ve got another, even more compact book in the works – Instant City – a mishmash of architectural whimsy and microfiction parodies.
I’ve also been producing various music in various guises for the last 20 years – pop duos, poetry collabos, and even a few hummable bangers for TV library collections. The perky soundtrack to dogs joyfully jumping over hedges. More about that, here.
I write smart things for the thoughtful designers at Arup. And in a former freelance life, helped brands ponder ice cream identities, name creative communities and even written a poem about champagne for The Savoy hotel. As someone once said, you can make anything with words.
(I warned you it would get a bit #Barley.)
